Fort Aguada Goa

A well-protected 17 century Portuguese post, Fort Aguada is situated on the Sinquerim Beach in North Goa. Worked as the central safeguard of Portuguese against the Dutch and Marathas, it was the most prized and urgent stronghold of the Portuguese. The fortification is ringed by thick escarpments and a profound dry channel. 2 things worth visiting inside the fortress are the 13 meter high beacon worked in 1864 and a vaulted storage fit for putting away ten million liters of new water. From here crisp water was provided to the boats that halted there.

A few structures of the post are still fit as a fiddle having been changed over into a prison and strangely, it happens to be the biggest correctional facility in Goa. Fortress Aguada is one of the top touring places in Goa.
